DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITY:

SpaceManager Closets is currently seeking an experienced cabinet designer to join our team. We serve the high-end residential market in Houston, Texas with premium quality custom closets, cabinets and home organization systems.

The engineer / CAD Drafter will be responsible for executing accurate and timely production of drawings and CNC code and production drawings. Cabinet Vision or Microvellum experience is required. Creating layouts / BOM for the shop to produce machine & build from and creating CNC programs to machine parts for the project.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary to effectively work with clients, architects and designers, as well as our production supervisor.

ABOUT THE POSITION
In your role, you will be responsible for the following key activities:

  • Create accurate presentation drawings and highly detailed design elevations
  • Document specifications and finish schedules for residential cabinetry projects.
  • Prepare projects for engineering, CNC-based production, and procurement.
  • Support closets / cabinetry sales and design efforts
  • Support oversight of production schedule and deadlines

SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 2 years experience with Cabinet Vision or Microvellum
  • Knowledge and experience of CNC router programming development, optimization and troubleshooting experience with CutRite, Router-Cim or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of cabinet construction (framed and/or frameless) within the wood products industry
  • An understanding of how to read Architectural / CAD drawings
  • Capable of solving problems with limited supervision
  • Attentive to details and accuracy
  • Skilled at organization
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic
  • Professional in both demeanor and ethics
  • Adept at building business relationships
  • Job requirements for qualified applicants
  • Bilingual in Spanish (preferred)

Here’s what you will do:

As a consultant, you will meet with prospective clients in their homes to design and sell custom organization systems for closets, home offices, pantries, and other spaces. During the in-home consultation process, the Design Consultant assesses space, takes measurements and works with the client to eventually create beautiful custom spaces in their home.  You will use SpaceManager Closet’s 3D software design tools to create digital renderings for the customer and for our manufacturing facility in Houston, TX.

Your Abilities:

  • Previous sales experience or exceptional ability to build rapport with clients. You’re able to build a client referral base by nurturing successful relationships with our customers.
  • Exceptional spatial awareness. You have the ability to visualize design solutions and how they will work within a limited space. You perform precise, detailed, and accurate field measures in a residential/commercial environment.
  • Outstanding communication skills. You have a professional presence and a dedication to exceeding client expectations with your problem-solving attitude.
  • Other factors that are a big plus: If you have a degree in interior design or a related field, or you have proficiency in PC design applications (previous CAD, 20/20), we would love to have you on our team.
